Since the birth of Meizu’s sub-brand, Meizu series, it has left a deep impression on consumers in the competition in the market of thousand yuan machine or even hundred yuan machine. Not long ago, due to the restructuring of the company, Meizu and Meizu were merged into one, no longer distinguishing between brands. So the original Meizu series was directly named after Meizu. This Note8 in my hand is the first Note series named after Meizu.

Meizu Note8 front is a 6-inch, resolution FHD+ LCD display, 403 ppi to ensure the fine screen, the screen look and feel in this price is good. Note8 uses a more conventional 18:9 symmetrical full-screen design, although Meizu in the design may be limited by cost factors and product positioning, but this full-screen approach is relatively conservative in my opinion.

Even though the Meizu series is no longer on the scene, we can still see the once familiar Meizu design style on the Meizu Note8. Meizu Note8 machine is more square, the back for the all-metal frosted fuselage, around the convergence with the screen at the high light chamfer to help improve the quality of the sense of the upper and lower ends of the obvious day line indicates the Note8 product positioning.

Symmetrical design has always been Meizu’s product concept, and this concept is also reflected in Note8. The flash, the rear double camera and the rear fingerprint identification keys are arranged in the position on the back side in order, and the Meizu logo is on the bottom side. Among them, the location of fingerprint identification keys is moderate and efficient, but the function is relatively simple, only support the unlock function and mobile payment authentication, there is no camera shutter, gestures and other interaction. In addition, Note8 also supports 2D face unlock, with the Note8 on the function of lifting the light screen, the actual experience is very convenient.

In general, Meizu Note8 in the design role and body materials in line with the Meizu treatment of a thousand yuan machine has been the degree of care, even if only in the low end positioning, but no ambiguity.

Meizu Note8 is equipped with the Cellon 632 processor, while the GPU is Adreno 506. It has and only provides a storage combination of 4GB+64GB. Fortunately, it also supports the expansion of memory cards to meet the needs of users who have a greater demand for mobile phone capacity.

The performance of the Celldragon 632 processor is demonstrated in the real world, with no problems with daily application opening and running fluency. However, when it comes to “PUBG: stimulating the Battlefield”, which requires high performance of mobile phones, it is easy to expose the shortcomings of Meizu Note8 in performance, and the overall fluency of games under ordinary picture quality is acceptable. Once you switch to HD, performance is tight. Running Honor of Kings performed a little better, supported the Vulkan version, and was smoother in the regiment scenario.

The Meizu Note8 has a slightly smaller battery capacity than its predecessor, the Note6, with a capacity of 3600mAh. the charging port uses a normal Micro-USB port. Using Tencent video to play 30 minutes of ultra-clear video online under the premise of medium screen brightness and medium external volume consumes about 6 percent of the power; running 30 minutes of “PUBG: stimulating the Battlefield” consumes nearly 10 percent of the power, and shows moderate fevers. Mainly concentrated in the area near the camera, moderate use can meet the demand from morning to night.

The Meizu Note8 supports mCharge charging up to 18W, is compatible with the QC 2.0 protocol, and is charged using a randomly equipped power adapter of 0-100%. Due to its relatively large battery capacity, the first 50% takes about 45 minutes. Full fill takes close to two hours.

After the Note6, the Meizu Note8 also adopts the 1200W+500W rear double camera scheme, using the IMX362, which has been polished for a long time, as the main camera component, with 12 million pixels, F / 1.9 aperture and 1.4 μ m unit pixel area. Improved photosensitivity and Dual PD full pixel binuclear focusing technology.

Unfortunately, AI scene recognition and automatic HDR, are not supported, which makes the postposition dual camera playability of Note8 a little weak. The concrete performance we still take the sample sheet as the reference, the following sample sheet only does the size the revision, has not gone through any post-processing.

In a word, Meizu Note8 still continues the excellent performance on Note6. Under the daytime scene, the style of the film is transparent and natural, the resolution of 1200 W pixels ensures the clarity of the picture, the color restoration is more accurate, and the light and shade degree of the picture is better maintained. Come to the night scene, large aperture and large unit pixel area to enhance the amount of light, the film rate will be improved, while the details of the dark part can be better retained, the night-time photos of a thousand yuan machine there is such a performance or let me more pleasantly surprised. It is a slight pity that the lack of AI scene recognition makes the Note8 camera less interesting, which can easily lead to dull colors in some scenes.

Meizu Note8 comes with Flyme 7. 1 system pre-installed. I have already experienced this big version of Flyme, on 16th Plus and X8, so Flyme 7. 1 also left a deep impression on me. After removing the mBack entity keys, the introduction of virtual mBack interaction and the full screen gestures, the overall interactive experience is good.

In addition, small details about other aspects of the system, such as the sliding search application on both sides of the desktop and the global nightly pattern, help to enhance the Flyme user experience. In general, although the functionality is relatively simple, but it is also fully adequate, but also through optimization to ensure the fluency of the system, these features on the Flyme can still be easily felt in daily use.

After a short week of actual experience, can be sure that the Meizu Note8 is a Meizu design, system experience in these areas to maintain a consistent Meizu product style, and in the photo function with the strength of the entry-level thousand yuan machine. But the disadvantages of the Note8 are as obvious as the advantages mentioned above, and its slightly weaker performance discourages some users who have higher requirements for the game but do not have sufficient budgets to buy the machine.

Therefore, if you value the phone’s photo function, like the simple and beautiful system and more robust appearance design, but performance, gaming experience is not particularly high demand, Meizu Note8 will be a good and affordable choice.
